As the healthcare division of Catalina Marketing, CHR has access to one of the world's largest transactional databases of household and non-prescription product purchases, with over 120 million U.S. households represented. This allows CheckoutRx® to deliver information and even coupons from pharmaceutical and health-care products companies separate from the prescription-based communications made possible with PatientLink™.
Here's how it works:
As customers make purchases of non-prescription, or "Over-The-Counter" products, these purchases are analyzed by the store software based on the Universal Product Code on the product's package. This information is then communicated to the CHR CheckoutRx® system that resides at the checkout counter of the store.
Based on the customer's purchases, messages that the customer is likely to find interesting and useful are delivered immediately to them as the purchase is completed at the register, using a special printer. The product is similar in size to the customer's store receipt, but is a separate and unique piece of paper containing only the product message.
Like PatientLink™, CheckoutRx® is designed by CHR staff along with the sponsoring company's product team and advertising agencies.
